The job of the starter motor is simple; it is an electric motor that turns the engine over to start it at ignition. The starter motor consists of a starter solenoid and a direct current electric motor.
A starter motor needs a very high current to crank the engine, which is why starter motors are attached directly to the car battery. At the point of ignition the solenoid acts as a switch to complete the circuit and pushes the starter gear forward to mesh with the flywheel and start the engine.
All starter motors have a surcharge value attached to them. This is an amount of money payable in addition to the part price. This value will be credited back to you when we receive your old unit and have inspected the product to make sure it is able to be reconditioned.
