Dampers, idlers and tensioners are used wherever a belt is used on the engine. Belts are used to link different components together. There will be idlers used in conjunction with the cam belt and drive belts. Tensioners are used generally with the drive belts to hold the belt under tension, making sure it continues to rotate around the components and idlers it uses.
